About ScreamingWyvern

I was born in 1974, the same year that the original White Box Dungeons and Dragons box set was released. After obtaining the Basic D&D Box Set (the ’83 edition) and joining my first game at 10, TTRPGs have been a massive part of my life for four decades. My first computer upgrade was a second floppy drive (5 1/4″) so that I could play Curse of the Azure Bonds, the Gold Box AD&D from SSI.

Although I had a regular game in high school, and I spent far too much money keeping track of the evolution of role playing games, I wasn’t able to have regular play sessions until 2019 when I started a Friends and Family game of Pugmire by Onyx Press. Obviously, 2019 turned out to be a bad year to have an in-person game.

A year later, I offered to run a Pathfinder 2e campaign for my daughter’s friends. This was a homebrew campaign that lasted two years, followed by a two year Kingmaker campaign with another group. My current game of choice is Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games, and I’ve been running XCrawl Classics for six months (as of November 2025.)

When I started running my Pathfinder games, I began streaming them on Twitch – not in the expectation of starting an actual play, but just to use as a reference for revisiting previous sessions. Trying to improve my nervousness about public speaking and improvisation, I began streaming classic CRPGs in September of 2023, starting with a full run-through of the SSI Gold Box AD&D game, Pool of Radiance. This was followed by Wasteland: Remastered and, when I felt that was boring to watch, I went back to the Gold Box series with Curse of the Azure Bonds.

I originally streamed under the name Screaming Kobold, but in July of 2024, I decided to rebrand as A Screaming Wyvern. A far more important change happened in October of the same year, when I played a solo adventure – the Hounds of Halthrag Keep – on my stream. That is now the primary purpose of my stream.
