Two years ago, I started streaming classic CRPGs on Twitch almost every Thursday. About a year after that, I streamed my first Solo RPG, and that’s been my stream ever since. I took November and December of 2025 off thanks to my yearly bout of congestion, so it’s time to start planning a return in 2026.
Historically, I’ve played to an audience of one or two, and I’d love to improve that this year. This is a hobby for me so I’m not extremely bothered by a small audience, but I also love the games I play and I want to raise visibility for them – get eyes on the hard working creators. With that in mind, my dreams for 2026 are:
YouTube and TikTok content
I blather randomly for up to two hours most Thursdays (and 3 hours every other Sunday) but doing scripted content terrifies me. Scary or not, my first priority is getting eyes on the games I’ll be playing on Thursday nights, and I need to start producing content for a wider audience. To me, that means:
- “Unboxing” videos. I don’t want to review solo TTRPGs in a traditional sense (games fall into “things I want to play” and “things I don’t want to play” and if I don’t want to play them I don’t care to go into why,) but I do want to go over what you need to play and the basic rules.
- Edited solo RPG streams. It’ll be easier to find if it’s not on my “Live” page but, more importantly, I can take out those three minute pauses where I try to parse what just happened.
- Clips. I might have to hire someone for this because I have no idea when I’m actually being funny.
- DCC Content. When I started thinking about being a creative, I wanted to do “The Basics Of DCC.” It’s not actually a bad idea. Especially with my hopes to…
Run More TTRPGs
I’ve had an XCrawl Classic game going for a few months, but with three players it’s harder to plan “bigger events.” I’d like to see one more player on the team, but what I’d really like is to have enough players to plan blocks of adventures and let people sign up for a month of games. To me, that means:
- Work on The Basics Of series to get attention on myself and DCC/XCC
- Offer DCC one shots and “learn to play” sessions
- Although I’m burned out on Pathfinder right now, it is still extremely popular. Maybe running some one-shots will be a good way to interview for my “real” TTRPG
- Research events and conventions in my local area to see if I can set up a table
Advocacy
I’m an old white guy; plenty of the players I want to invite to my table won’t be too enthusiastic. I can still offer comfort and support. My priority will always be the Trans community but when we allow one minority community to be targeted, all of us are at risk.
- I’m going to use pink and turquoise more in my branding; when I had my “Battle Vest” made, my pseudonym ended up with pink into turquoise from top to bottom and I love it so much.
- If I can get a regular viewership, work towards charity streams once I have the information needed to make sure it goes directly to the recipient (without me needing to interfere.)
- Continue to prioritize work by LGBTQ+ and BIPOC creators.
In Summary
I’m a middle aged, employed man with an amazing wife and a beautiful daughter (who happens to be Trans.) I truly have nothing else I need in this world. If I can spend some time getting people’s eyes on the hard work of independent creators, or make one person feel special and seen, that’ll be a good use of my time.
